Lin, it's my pleasure to be able to share these adventures with you. And I don't remember if you are on the newsletter mailing list - if not head over to the Italy Archives Page (see sidebar on right), and check them out there. There was snow in the mountains surrounding Foligno - it was stunning this morning on my walk. I am also sending you wishes for wonderful days at your end.

How in the world can I ever thank you for these updates. It feels pretty silly but wonderful to pop open my laptop in the morning while I'm still in bed (well, after getting up to make a cup of Earl Grey!) and smile out loud at your photographs and narratives. Well, maybe I could start by saying 'thank you.' I'm hooked: for you to stop these would be cruel and unusual punishment. And now, I'm just wishing you continued wonderful days.

They have been talking about snow, even here in Foligno, but so far it's just cold rain. Still, I like the sound of it, and it reminds me of camping in the rain in Vermont on those cold autumn weekends with you. I am noticing the returning light, always a bright sign. Enjoy those crunchy hillocks, and ocean breezes!

I am also spending a night on Lago Trasimeno - tonight as I think on it. Thank you for posting and keeping us with you through your updates and photos. The ground here at the shore has been mostly bare but early on some mornings the grass has a crunch to it and the soil forms small hillocks underfoot. I can feel the days beginning to get slightly longer and I am hoping the returning sunlight will bring a lighter feeling and a brighter step. Your pal, Janet

Ciao Wendy:
Era un giro bello, per sicuro. Lucca has always been one of our favorites, after living there for a couple of months. It's changed quite a bit, but still a lovely city. We didn't rent bikes, but we did have a nice walk around the ramparts (that great park on top of the walls), and checked out all our old haunts. Lago Trasimeno was quite cold, but we got there in time for a nice sunset in the wind. Newsletter coming soon!

Era un giro fantastico, non e' vero?

Lake Trasimeno!!! We were there a couple of times, and even took a boat trip to one of the islands--- Lago Maggiore??? Non mi ricordo bene.

LUcca was truly one of our favorite spots. Did you rent bicycles by any chance?
Keep the postings coming . I am living vicariously!

Jess, I am a couple of days late, but I did think of you.Seven years... and I still don't like going to Larchmont! The flowers were beautiful and your Mom would have loved them. She always had flowers in her house, even during dark days. I spent Xmas at Andy,s. His boys are 6 and 8. Now I am exhausted. Wishing you a good 2012
