Un bel mazzo di fiori
I had almost forgotten how lovely it is to have a beautiful vase of flowers on my desk. Especially in the short grey days of winter. And here is where FaceBook proves a good thing. I had a brief FB exchange with Amy, a good friend who runs a flower business (Pretty Flowers), and a photographer with whom she collaborated (check out the photographer’s blog entry about the collaboration here). Someone in this exchange suggested that I should paint Amy’s flowers, to which I responded that I loved the idea. Lo and behold Jay & Amy came for dinner, and she appeared with the loveliest of purple and yellow and green, and even some blue hydrangea in a vase of flowers. Such welcome inspiration – even as the blooms quickly fade away.
I am patiently waiting for both the cold dark days to give way to spring, and to finally have a working studio again. Patience being the operative word. In the meantime, my office is still a chaotic mess, and I am making daily drawings in a sketchbook that reminds me in quality and size of the old orange covered ones I used growing up!
Just lovely! Makes me want to buy myself some flowers.
There really is something to be said for treating oneself to flowers in the dead of winter!
always a good idea. I buy myself flowers on a regular basis. Makes my home feel and look so much warmer.
I always knew your were a wise woman, Yvonne!
